“We LOVE our kitchen. It is transformative to the entire area around us. It’s a pleasure to be in there, a pleasure to cook (although I did have a little oil fire the first time I used the oven, very scary!), a pleasure to look out the windows and see more trees, birds and damn chipmunks digging into my veggies. Seriously, I’m not a materialistic person, but I am finding so much joy being in there or sitting in the living room and looking through the interior window. It’s silly, I know. Btw, some feedback - many people (pre-Covid) have commented enthusiastically on the kitchen but especially about 3 things – the interior window and what a great idea it is and how unique it is, the expansive kitchen window, and the black paint for all of the window panes, which is trending more these days I notice.”
The Sweeney crew were amazing to work with. Throughout the whole construction process, we always felt that Shawn was on our side. He was totally transparent with the budget and efficient with the timeline (despite weeks of rain delays, the construction basically finished exactly when Shawn said it would at the outset). He kept us involved and informed about the process as it unfolded and helped us make design decisions (tolerating our quirks and at-times strange preferences!). The SDC crew and all the sub-contractors they brought into the job were professional, clearly took pride in their what they did, and produced quality work. We hired Sweeney DesignBuild for the complete design and construction of our new home. Shawn and his whole company were always professional and courteous. The design process was collaborative. Shawn and his team worked closely with us, listened carefully and suggested enhancements through the whole design and construction process. We have built 4 homes and this house is our best built home. It has not had a single issue in nearly 5 years. We lived in Maryland during the design and build process and Shawn was always easy to work with. We had weekly phone calls or skype meetings from his office or from the site. We are now adding a room over our garage and a second standalone garage and will be working with Shawn through the whole process. We highly recommend Sweeney DesignBuild to everyone.

“Exceptional! We hired Sweeney Designbuild knowing that the work they do is outstanding. We purchased our home in 2017 and were moving to Vermont from out of state. Our house had had the entire basement finished by Sweeney Designbuild prior to us owning the home and it was done beautifully. It’s actually one of the main reasons we bought the house.
After living in the house for about a year, we came up with a long list of things that needed to be updated which included: the master bathroom, the kids bathroom, the main floor powder room, the mudroom, the kitchen countertops and breakfast area. Plus, an entire interior house painting.
Since we were new to Vermont, we didn’t really know a lot about different contractors in the area. But we did know that the quality of the work that was done in the basement was what we wanted throughout the rest of house.
We reached out to Shawn and he was immediately responsive. He came to our house not long after our phone conversation and we discussed the scope of the project and the process they use for renovations. Shawn was extremely personable and organized. There was no question as to who we wanted to have work on our home.
As the process of the renovation began we were meeting more and more of the people who worked at Sweeney Designbuild. Austin did all of the design plans, so we were able to see how things would look when the project was finished. He was fantastic with knowing where things should be placed for ease of use while also making sure each space was beautiful. My husband and I had added on a few things during the planning phase and Austin was fantastic about modifying and adding to the design plans.
Once demolition began, I had the pleasure of meeting Dave, Kyle, Rob, John and Stephen. I cannot even begin to tell you how neat, professional and talented these group of men are. From prepping the house to protect what was not being touched, and to keep it as clean as possible during a renovation, to the last of the finishing touches, they were outstanding.
These are true craftsmen, who not only do beautiful work but care about making your home into what you want it to be. We were never concerned with the quality of the work or worried about if someone was going to show up. They are all true professionals who are extremely respectful and just nice people.
We appreciate everything that was done at our house. Shawn and the entire group at Sweeney Designbuild went above and beyond our expectations and we cannot thank them enough for making our house into a beautiful home.”

“If you’re looking for the top professionals in the area, look no further than SBD. From planning, through trips to decide on materials, through construction, then clean up, these guys are A-1. Throughout the process, I was extremely well taken care of—-none of my concerns was too small. But where this crew really shines is in their work. Top quality carpenters, top quality sub-contractors (plumbing, electric, etc.); everyone was exceptionally polite and conscientious. And they really did get the job done on time! 'm working from home a lot now that the semester is over. My office is upstairs on the South side of the house so I'm a bit removed from the action, but I wanted to say how awesome and kind of sweet it is to hear people laughing from time to time while they're working, even with all the rain we've been having which, to me, seems like it would make things miserable out there.
